I need a V8. I doubt the next M3/4 will have one, so this is the cheapest way to get one. I’m okay with that.

Ive never driven a BMW v8. I can only imagine they are sublime. I’ll never be happy with a LS, I just cant. They all just feel like truck motors. Ive driven vette’s and a supercharged CTS. They just arent my cup of tea.

This is the cheapest way? Isn’t that a new M5?

It’s the M550. And I’d prefer to lease not buy.

They are a truly wonderful thing. The early ones, at least. I have no experience with anything after M60s and M62s.

Just take good care of the cooling system.

To be fair, right now it would likely be an investment.

Feel like truck motors?

Jesus christ.

The LS based engines are much better V8s than anything BMW has put out. BMW has a hard enough time getting their V8 engines not to eat themselves.

I’ve owned four BMWs so I obviously like their products, but the LS bases engines are one of the best V8s out there.

Also the best way.

I don’t think I’d want to keep it for long. The ubiquitous BMW 4.4 V8 has been known to be a pile of crap sadly. I’d think that at this point they’d have their woes fixed but time will tell with the new gen.

The second gen (2014+) is much improved in that department.

Yeah agreed the LS is just objectively better. Traditional v8s sound different from modern low displacement v8s, the former may be trucklike to some but thats just how they are

Was an M760i in front of me on the way to work (he lives less than a mile from me).
